Some may be offended at this one, especially the part that indicates the end of our nation is near. I don’t apologise for that. In looking through the history of our nation, it is evident that we became a powerhouse mostly because of the great talents we permitted to come here. Now, unless someone has already acheived some measure of import, they are generally refused entry and I think this is folly. By tightening our borders, I believe we only hurt ourselves. In any case, I do hope some of you enjoy this tiny history lesson in poetic verse.
Raise all eyes to the red, white, and blue
Hear all ears, this land’s here for you
Bring us your tired, your hungry, your poor
Come all castaway’s to our open door.
That was the call our forefathers raised
That was the call for which we were praised
The masses did come and flood through the land
Building and building until we were grand.
But now we have blustered and angrily said
Step ‘cross that border and we’ll bust your head
Send only your best, just your finest will do
For Americana is finally through.
