Recommendation for Self Publishers of Kindle Books

May 2, 2013 in Uncategorized

Don\'t forget to add us. We appreciate it.

For those who have been coming to my site for some time or have read any of my best-selling books (Survive and Thrive Series, Peter A. Grimm’s FEMA Coffins and the Annunaki, Jacqueline Michelle’s Beautiful Women), you already know that I have figured out how to publish to Amazon Kindle and make a success of that platform.  Now I am going to make a recommendation.  I do so because for some time I have been wanting to write a course of study for anyone wanting to self-publish but time is not my friend.  These days, I am so busy helping others get published that I simply cannot find the time to actually create a course so they can do it for themselves.

When I first launched JOEPublsihingGroup, I was completely unprepared for the response.  Hundreds of people have been sending manuscripts to me and I can barely keep up.  I have even hired help and can’t maintain the pace.

But the goal of JOEPub was and remains simply to help others to get books published and actually make a living from their writing–not to get caught in a business wherein I can no longer write myself.  See, I am first and foremost, a writer.  I also have extensive marketing experience which I put to use on the above mentioned books early on, but as of late, just keeping up with publishing books has prevented me from doing justice for some of my writers.

For this reason, I was very excited when I came across a course that provides complete training for anyone wanting to self-publish on Amazon Kindle and actually be successful at it.  The Course is called College of Kindle and will show you everything that I have been wanting to put together myself, but have not had the time for.  It provides a huge library along with video tutorials, 24-hour support, and ongoing training so that anyone taking the course will learn not only all they need to know now, but stay on top of the Kindle business as it grows and changes.

I have noticed that many of the folks who come to me for help in getting published could easily do it themselves, if only they had the knowledge or the right tools.  So I am happy to recommend the College of Kindle course to my readers.  Note: This course is not published through JoePublishing.  This is a study course I came across through an independent source and after carefully checking it out, I believe it is superb.  In fact, I am using some of the techniques recommended already with good results so I know my readers will be in good hands.

My goal, as always, is to help advance the publishing revolution that is taking place today.  I wish you all the best but naturally, if this course is not for you, I will be happy to publish your edited, publishing-ready book.  Either way, I wish you all the success in the world.

Jacqueline Michelle’s New Book: Beautiful Women: Choose Well and Win

Author C. Jeff Oakes

By C. Jeff Oakes

Our newest author to JOEPublishingGroup.com has created an unusual sort of book.  It is a photo book of Beautiful Women, but with a twist or two.  The first twist is that this book is a celebration of beautiful transgender (transsexual) women from around the world.  With a simple layout and design, this book features some of the most stunning and attractive transgender women you will ever see.  The book features transgender women from the United States, Canada, Mexico, Central and South America, Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.  Printed in full-color and available in both print and Kindle editions, Ms Michelle added another twist to the book.

She has added a contest and whoever wins gets the pot.

The title of her book is Beautiful Women: Choose Well and Win because in this book she not only presents some of the most beautiful transgender women in the world, but has interspersed the book with women born with female genitals.  The object of the contest is to see who can correctly identify the difference.  Along with 240 transgender women she has included 60 women who were born female.  If anyone can determine the 60 women who were born female out of the 300 featured women, that person will win the pot at the end of the rainbow.

The Pot

The winning pot The Pot as of March 24, 2013 to be Given to the first person to correctly identify those born female in Jacqueline Michelle's book.

The Pot as of March 24, 2013 to be Given to the first person to correctly identify those born female in Jacqueline Michelle’s book.

The pot was started at $100 beginning today.  As the book sells, she is adding half of her royalties and JOEPublsihingGroup.com will be added 10% or our receipts.  This will continue until someone wins or the end of 2015.  If no one wins by December 31, 2015, Ms Michelle is going to choose one of the lucky ladies featured within as the winner.

Her reasoning behind the contest stems from her career as a social worker in a major city.  Years ago in her work, she came across a former military officer who discovered he had ovarian cancer when he was in his twenties.  Confronting his father, he found that he had been born with both genitals and a decision had to be made–the father choose a son.  The only problem was that they made the wrong choice.  The “man” was genetically female and to make the change work, surgery and hormone therapy was performed.  So the girl, grew up as a boy, complete with the ability to father children.  But some tissue remained when the testes were forced to drop from the therapy and this is where the ovarian cancer developed.

At the time, Ms Michelle was helping abused children, substance abusers, and the homeless.  When she came across this particular case, she began work on a fictionalized version of the story and that is how we discovered her.  She sent us a portion of the book and we immediately decided we wanted her in the JOEPub home.  However, her book is not due for completion until late 2013 and in the mean time, she decided it would be interesting to find out just how many people could even tell the difference between a female born that way and a transgender woman.

Beautiful Women: Choose Well and Win by new author Jacqueline Michelle is now out through Amazon books.

Beautiful Women: Choose Well and Win by new author Jacqueline Michelle is now out through Amazon books. Click the book to get the paperback.

The reason for this contest is that she is trying to raise awareness.  All across America and in many parts of the world, transgender persons are discriminated against.  When a person determines they must be true to their nature and consults with a physician, they are told to begin living as their correct sex, well before they receive an operation to alter their genitalia.  This is because they identify with that sex.  Thus, they are to use restrooms labeled according to their rightful gender and dress accordingly.  Some in society have a problem with this and so discriminatory laws are passed. However, the reality is that in most cases, once the hormone therapy is in effect, no one can tell the physical gender–only the social gender.

So to highlight just how superficial this notion of concerning ourselves as a society with what is between someone’s legs, Ms Michelle has decided to put the concept to the test.  If anyone can correctly determine what is between a woman’s legs by looking at her face or body, then that person will win the pot.  To some degree, this is a social experiment but to a larger degree, it is social activism–she simply wants people to understand just how superficial it is to judge someone on appearance.

And let’s face it…everyone likes a book of beautiful women.

Update: April 29, 2013.

Wow, this book is selling better than I had thought it would.  The pot reached nearly $300 a couple of weeks ago and tomorrow I am going to recalculate the pot, which I believe is going to increase to over $1000.  We are still waiting for someone with a keen eye to win, so get those entries in while you can.

It’s not often that I get to offer something free to my readers so I am very excited to be part of a new program from White Dove books.  White Dove has a provision whereby I can offer free e-books to my readers.  The best part is that these are motivational books and they are easy to download, there is nothing to buy (unless you want to), and you can download as many as you would like.

I have been in contact with White Dove and am hoping to provide some of my books there free of charge as well in the near future.  Of course, I know what you are thinking (I was thinking the same thing when I was first presented with the offering)–what is the catch?

Well, the catch is simple really.  All they want you to do is sign up for their free newsletter.  They don’t engage in spamming or anything like that.  This is essentially marketing for their company.  They also provide some books for sale which many find useful and they are offering the free books so that they can get more people to at least consider the books they do sell.  Personally, I don’t think that’s a bad deal, which is why I agreed to place their library on my site.

To give you an idea of the books to be found, here are some of the titles in their free books library.

The Power of Gratitude, Making Time Work for You, The 80/20 Diet (I think that is one I shall be needing), Secrets of the Rich, Powerful Ways to Sharpen Your Memory, Body Language Magic, Law of Attraction, and of course, So You Want to be a Writer (I recommend this one for anyone who, well, wants to be a writer).

And this is just a small sampling.  They currently offer over a hundred motivational titles and the library is growing every day.  This is why I am thrilled to be able to offer these books.  I have been listening to and reading motivational books for years.  In fact, I can honestly say that motivational books have helped me get where I am today.  I have read and/or listened to everything from Napoleon Hill to Zig Ziglar, from Tony Robbins to Dale Carnegie, and many more that few people have ever heard of.  I live and breath motivational readings because in today’s fast-paced, stress-inducing world, I need a pick-me-up from time to time.

So be sure to at least pop over and take a look at some of the titles.  Remember, if you see one you like, all you need to do is sign up for White Dove’s free newsletter.  That’s it.

Go to my Free Books Section here.

I’m really glad I can provide this for my readers and I hope you enjoy your free books.  Also, be sure to watch for any of the JOEPublishing books on Amazon Kindle–I am often running free books there as well from many of my writers.  And for those who do not have Kindle, you can now get it Free from Amazon for virtually any PC or phone.  Read my Article here to learn more.

A Nice Story We All Need to Remember From Time to Time

March 12, 2013 in Uncategorized

Don\'t forget to add us. We appreciate it.

By Anonymous

A friend shared this with me and the author is unknown.  It’s one of those things that has been circulating for years and who knows where it started.  Still, it is a great sentiment, so i thought I would share it here.

THIS IS LONG BUT OH SO IMPORTANT TO PUT “STUFF” INTO PROSPECTIVE!!!!!!!

A professor stood before his philosophy class…

When the class began, he wordlessly picked up a very large and
empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with golf balls.

English: Golf balls.

English: Golf balls. (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

He then asked the students if the jar was full.

They agreed that it was.

The professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured
them into the jar. He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles rolled
into the areas between the golf balls.

He then asked the students again if the jar was full.

They agreed it was.

The professor next picked up a box of sand and poured it
into the jar. Of course, the sand filled up everything else.

He asked again if the jar was full.

The students responded with a unanimous……..”YES” !!!!!

The professor then produced two beers from under the table
and poured the entire contents into the jar effectively filling
the empty space between the sand.

The students laughed.

‘Now,’ said the professor as the laughter subsided,
‘I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life…

The golf balls are the important things – your family, your children,
your health, your friends and your favorite passions – and,
if everything else was lost and only they remained,
your life would still be full.

The pebbles are the other things that matter like your job,
your house and your car.

The sand is everything else – the small stuff.’

If you put the sand into the jar first,’ he continued,
‘there is no room for the pebbles or the golf balls.

The same goes for your life.

If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff,
you will never have room for the things that are important to you.

Pay attention to the things that are vital to your happiness…

— Spend time with your children.
— Spend time with your parents.
— Visit with your grandparents.
— Take your spouse out to dinner.
— Play another 18.!!!

There will always be time to clean the house and do the chores.

Take care of the golf balls first – the things that really matter.

Set your priorities.

The rest is just sand.

One of the students raised her hand and asked what the beers represented.
The professor smiled and said, ‘I’m glad you asked.’…

The beer shows you that no matter how full your life may seem,
there’s always room for a couple of beers with a friend.

Make Room for the Things That Really Matter in Your Life…

As an aside, I just watched a movie from a few years ago starring George Clooney, called Up In the Air.  I found it interesting that in the movie, he tells a story about filling a suitcase with stuff that is important.  I won’t be a spoiler, but the story he tells is a fresh take on the Mayonnaise Jar above.  Good movie. Highly recommended.

is getting great reviews from the top entertainment website in Kenya, Ghafla. Here is what the site had to say…

After the long wait for the much anticipated book that documents the life of the newly-elected Nairobi senator, Gideon Mbuvi AKA Mike Sonko, the book has finally been published and ready to hit the shelves.

JOEPub is proud and pleased to have Ronald Wamamuli in our group and look forward to future installments in The Adventures of Mike Mbuvi Sonko.  The initial installment is written towards juveniles, but the story is entertaining and refreshing–sure to appeal to older audiences as well.

Here is a brief excerpt from The Adventures of Mike Mbuvi Sonko:

The Chinese say that the palpable formula used by a winning army comprises of deception. When broken down, the Jamuhuri high school army had the infantry, the air force and the navy. And the infantry has at least six hundred men who consume a ton of cooked school beef in a week. It was as though the word ‘Spartan’ was coined just for them.

The students were referred to as an army since they were as accustomed to survival as well as thrival in any given situation. And in that army each soldier was ready to die for honors sake, ready to die for the course as they liked to put it.

“Damn!” screamed Maweu.

“What dude?” Mbuvi asked, his unique blue eyes rolling in wonderment.

“Pull back Bin Laden! Pull back! Do not engage! I repeat don’t FREAKING ENGAGE!”

“Put the freaking radio down Omondi! He will do what he has to do. He is forbidden to blow our cover if he is caught. We are safe.” Otiende said in a calm voice.

“I can’t let him do that. He is our friend punk. He is my little brother. Am not going to sit comfy and witness him going down. You are not a team player… [Then turning to Mbuvi and his team] what the heck is wrong with your freaking eardrums? Can’t they pick up my damn mellow accent? I thought I said pull the hell back!”

“We took an oath brother. BISCUITS IN, BISCUITS OUT and that means we die for the course. Mbuvi has proved himself a good soldier. If he dies in the process, he will get a damn good spanking alright, but will be a symbol of courage for the rest of the brotherhood.”

Otiende grabbed the radio and instructed Mbuvi to carry on. It is not our fault that some have to die, he said. But if that was what it took for an assured good life in future for the brotherhoods fraternity, then so be it!

“Roger that sir. The subject has passed by.” Mbuvi answered in a dry whisper.

“What is your situation?” Otiende asked. His stomach was rumbling miserably. His efforts trying to conceal it were futile. He yawned and asked the same question over the radio. The so-called radios were made out of a blue band kadogoo metallic container.

“Spooky.” Mbuvi replied in the still darkness.

“Yes it is. But remember, your family has been heavily compensated all ready. A new husband has been found for your wife.” Otiende joked lightheartedly.

“What does he look like?”Mbuvi inquired.

“Will Smith.” Omondi joked.

“I thought we had an agreement you guy!” Mbuvi growled.

“She won’t forget you. The brotherhood will see to it that your pictures stay put on the walls.”

“Is he good in bed?” Mbuvi asked.

“I AM STRAIGHT!” Omondi and Otiende chorused.

“I know. I just want to settle in purgatory not having to watch my wife screaming my memories away every night! Make Will Smith go away. Find her a less hot dude!”

“Affirmative ha-ha, Will smith will be deported back to Hollywood tonight. So go ahead and make us all proud… may the

Will Smith

devil be with you!”

“And he be with you brother!” these two rascals had a tendency of taking jokes too far. But at least it meant a moment forgetting about hunger and rumbling stomachs. Otiende let a tear caravan freely down his desert sand-dry chicks. These were the last words he had heard many say before they got caught by the patron. It was the point of no return… the poof. The kaput! He had fixed the human cameras [Which was mainly Form ones to look out for looming danger and sound the alarm] so strategically, so all they did was waiting as their stomachs rumbled away hoping that Mbuvi would bring them some food.

Mbuvi broke into the school pantry and took a handful of mangoes, dropped them in a bag that he was carrying. This was an achievement indeed. It was worth reporting to the base. So human camera one nodded to camera two, who nodded to camera three until the signal reached the last human camera that walked into the dormitory and whispered into Omondi’s ears. He smiled sheepishly.

Then the human cameras got the visual of an old lady they all knew too well. Mrs. Wambui the patron had heard the commotion and was coming to check the kitchen out. Her wrinkles accentuated by the florescent and an overdose of makeup.

“HIDE little brother, HIDE!” screamed Otiende on the home made radio. He didn’t even realize that he was banging the table so violently that some of his treasured popcorn was spilling on the floor. But Fernando scooped them up before they reached the down there.

“Mike Mbuvi, open this door. I know you are in there.” Mrs. Wambui shouted with a heavy accent. She actually was issuing that warning after kicking the heavy hardwood door clean off its hinges. The seven pairs of eyes in the brotherhood didn’t blink for almost three minutes. Was it the end of an era? Did it mean they were going to starve to death? Were the gods trying to set us up? They asked themselves the questions people do when they are hungry…lots of silly questions. Then the juicy part came…

JOEPub: A New Forum for Writers and Fans of Writers–All Welcome

March 6, 2013 in Uncategorized

Don\'t forget to add us. We appreciate it.

I just added a new forum to my website for the writers who have already signed with JOEPublishing(JOEPub) and future writers and

J Oakes Entertainment Publishing logo

J Oakes Entertainment (JOE Publishing) logo

fans. The purpose of this forum is twofold: First, I wanted to create a way that fans could easily stay in touch with the writers whom I have signed. Second, I wanted a way that writers (whether signed with JOEPub or not) could get together, learn from each other, gain access to resources, develop their talent, and generally motivate each other.

I have been writing all my life and have been involved over the years in numerous writers groups, where we would meet for coffee to discuss each others work, critique each other, and help others (especially newbies) to find good marketing outlets for their work. As writers, it is important that we meet regularly to discuss our craft–this is how we improve and maintain our creative juice flow.

But it is also important for writers to have the ability to hear from their fans on a regular basis and I thought that it may be a good idea, given the abilities afforded us by the Internet, to bring writers and fans together. Think of JOEPub as the place too meet and greet–a place for everyone to participate in the writers group.

Years ago, we would meet in coffee shops and quiet pubs. But the groups were only local writers and never fans. The groups were generally very small so ideas were limited to the socio-demographic ideas of those present. With JOEPub, we have the opportunity to bring writers from every walk of life, every culture, every race, every nationality together. I believe this will create a synergy unlike any other and welcome all.

Initially, when I was setting the JOEPub forum up, I considered limiting it to members only. But then, I thought why do that? Writing is an art that knows no limits so the idea of limiting a forum for writers to only certain people seemed wrong. So I set it up so that anyone who wants to join may do so. What is more, writing knows no rules, no boundaries–so I set no rules or limits. I would ask that those participating in the forum please respect others and not be trolls (I do have the ability to block certain persons so if anyone has a problem with someone else, I will look into the matter–if one is just being a troll, I will boot them.)

In any case, I plan on posting regularly to the forum by providing tips on writing, marketing, and various other related topics. I encourage anyone who has something useful for others to do the same.  Of course, I will also continue providing information here on my site so be sure to check in here as well.  When I post something specific to writing in any way, I will provide a link through the JOEPub forum.  Also, if you like discovering new authors as much as I, keep watching our Author’s page as I am adding new talent often.

And don’t forget, if you are a writer and are seeking publication, JOEPublishing is looking for new talent.  Contact me either by writing to me at cjeffoakes@gmail.com or by leaving a comment at the bottom of this page.

Why not head over to the JOEPub forum now and join the discussion–or start one.  The forum is new, so there is not much there for now, so anything you would like to add will certainly be appreciated by all. If you see me at JOEPub, be sure to say hi.

Also recently added is a small store for writers.  It contains all the books I believe will help anyone writing for websites such as books on sound SEO/SEM writing, along with my favorite picks in politics, philosophy, history, psychology, and more.  In addition, I added a section with office products which I believe are the best for writers, such as back scratchers, massaging seat additions, and computer-related items.  Be sure to check out my store here.  Also, you can order books from any of the JOEPublishing authors

through this store.

Expanding into Publishing with “FEMA Coffins and the Annunaki” Just Released

February 24, 2013 in Uncategorized

Don\'t forget to add us. We appreciate it.

I began self-publishing my books some time ago after discovering that there were numerous so-called book publishers out there willing to publish for a large fee.  I figured that if I had to pay to get my books published, they weren’t worth publishing because no reputable publisher asks for upfront fees from authors.  So after obtaining best-seller status on some of my books, friends and others began asking how I did it and wanting to know if I could help them?

I began to explain to them all that publishing is the easy part (at least for me–they disagreed, having given it a try and given up).  To me the biggest part of the equation is the marketing and having over 20 years experience in both sales and marketing, this is not that difficult for me either.  Indeed, the large reason I started this site a few years ago was to learn how marketing of websites differs from traditional marketing and I have learned and applied enough to be counted as an SEO expert (see my oDesk “expert” badge at the bottom of the page).  Marketing books, as long as they are reasonably good and useful, is not that different from any other kind of marketing.

So after some discussions with these friends I entered into some contracts to represent, edit, publish, and market their books.

I am proud to announce that my best friend, Peter A. Grimm is now a published author and after his first day on Amazon, his new book,

fema coffins and the annunaki: what the government is not telling you

FEMA Coffins and the Annunaki: What the Government is NOT Telling You, by Peter A. Grimm, is now out on Amazon. Get it by clicking on the book.

FEMA Coffins and the Annunaki: What the Government is NOT Telling You, has skyrocketed to the top of Amazons Best-Seller list in the category of Science and Astrophysics.  To say the least, he is ecstatic–myself as well.

I never expected to become a publisher.  I am a writer.  I ghost write for clients worldwide and I write for myself and my fans.  But it seems that people are very much interested in what I offer as it pertains to publishing.  What is that?

Well as I mentioned earlier, when I first began considering publishing my books, I came across a great number of so-called publishers, really little more than scam artists feeding off the vanities of other people.  Many people would like to have a book with their name on it and I have to admit, it is a rush.  But never in my life have I heard of a reputable book publisher charging to publish.  That is simply NOT how it works.

No, reputable book publishers sign a contract with an author to represent their work and provide in exchange royalties to the author.  The publisher assumes all costs associated with the publication and marketing of the books and the author simply writes and collects checks.  That is the way it should be…especially now that publishing is so much simpler.  Publishing cost are lower so there is no good reason to charge a person to publish their book…unless it is not worth publishing.

So that is how I do things.

If an author is good enough that I believe in his or her work, I will represent that author.  The best part is, unlike the “big” publishing houses, I believe that almost every book will appeal to someone and just because it is not something I would like does not mean that others will not.  Case in point.  I do not read Gothic Romances.  I do, however, see that many people enjoy these and in fact, I have just signed a wonderful author, K. C. Cavanaugh.  Her first book will be ready for publication soon and to tell the truth, though it is not something I would normally read, I found it wonderful and could not put it down.  It is in the process of editing now, for it did need some minor continuity changes, but overall I believe she will do very well.

I am currently reading an excellent novel by Andrew Scott Bear.  It is something of a Psychological drama and is written in such a way that at times, I must remind myself it is a work of fiction.  I am finding it a refreshing read and thus far, the writing is so good that no editing is required.  Look for it soon.

The point is, I am not going to base my contracting decisions on whether I like the book or not.  I am going to objectively decide based on the ability of the author to stick to the plot, develop characters and subplots, and weave a tale or work of non-fiction that moves along at the proper pace.  Other than that, it is up to the readers to decide if it is good or not.  In other words, I am going to leave the judgments up to the market.  Which means that I believe I will have many more authors signing with me soon (I have five currently).

If you are interested in having JOakesEntertainment Publishing represent you, just write to me at cjeffoakes@gmail.com.  Send an brief

excerpt of your book and if I believe I would like to read more, I will send you a contract.  We can then take if from there.

For now, congratulations Mr. Grimm on your first best-seller.

I Have a New Best-Seller but is it a Pyrrhic Victory?

February 12, 2013 in Uncategorized

Don\'t forget to add us. We appreciate it.

Back in January, I finally published a book I had on the burner for many years called, Survive and Thrive After the Collapse of the Dollar.  I was completely unprepared for the huge success of this book.  For years, I have been of the opinion that people are simply not interested in hearing that our country is in danger of bankruptcy, that this will mean the end of our nation, and we should begin now preparing for that outcome.  However, I decided to finalize the book and publish it anyway.  I couldn’t have been more wrong about how concerned people really are.  That book quickly became a best-seller for me and is now available in both Kindle format and paperback.  I began with Kindle, then decided based on sales, to publish in paperback–the paperback edition is now outstripping the Kindle 2 to 1.  However, I am beginning to feel that my success is a Pyrrhic Victory.  How so?

As soon as I found that the first book performed well, I quickly began pulling my notes for the follow-up and published this week Survive and Thrive: 100 Tips for Obtaining Food After the Stores Close.  In just a few days, this new book is already matching the interest of the first and I have just gone paperback with it as well.  In fact, as of yesterday it was ranked #3 on Kindle in Economic Conditions.  It would seem that I have another Best-selling book.

But Why are so many people interested in these books?  Is the nation really facing such a reality?

If you have read my first book, you already know my argument there.  Basically, I argue what many already are beginning to see:  The United States is on a collision course with the foolish budgetary choices made by our representatives.  Indeed, with the budget discussions looming in March, many understand that without raising the debt ceiling, the nation will be unable to pay for programs which we have already spent the money for.  And if we do raise the debt ceiling, Congress is simply going to go even more spend crazy. We are faced with a damned if we do, damned if we don’t situation.  This is why Congress has agreed to put off such discussions until May 2013.  The fact is, they don’t want to deal with the quagmire they created.

The facts have been staring so many in the face for so long now that many are beginning to see the sad reality that perhaps there is no saving our sinking ship of state.  For too many years, Congress dipped into the Social Security Trust fund to help hide their overspending.  This they can no longer do for a surplus in that fund no longer exists.  It would have had they left it alone, but they wanted to hide the truth from the American people and now the chicken has come home to roost.

In addition, Congress has made it clear that they have no intention of cutting back on defense spending even though this is the primary reason for the serious deficit we now face.  Hence, we are staring a Pyrrhic victory in the face.  If we don’t spend, we face the potential of increased terrorism; if we do spend, we face the loss of our nation through sure bankruptcy.  It seems that the only viable course is to cut the spending and hope for the best.  I think I would rather have a country and face attacks than to not have a country and be sitting ducks for anyone who wants to invade.

Indeed, the term Pyrrhic victory is derived from a king named Pyrrhus who fought a war against Korykra in the 3rd Century B.C.  In that war, Tarentum came to his aid and the two became allies.  When Tarentum was thus attacked by Rome, Pyrrhus naturally returned the favor.  This was followed by a string of victories by Pyrrhus which led to Rome seeking alliances with others.  One was Carthage, who had been approached by Pyrrhus as an ally, but Carthage viewed Pyrrhus as a greater threat than Rome.  So the Carthaginians allied with Rome against Pyrrhus and Tarentum.  In addition, numerous alliances were formed and eventually this war became major.  In fact, one could actually refer to this as the original first World War, so involved were other nations in the conflict.

This war was significant because it began as a minor conflict with Rome.  However, because of the policy choices made by Pyrrhus at the time, the conflict escallated into more than simply a minor conflict. Pyrrhus had to put everything he had into the effort and eventually Pyrrhus was so victorious that far more nations sided with Rome than he out of fear of the Giant, Pyrrhus.  In fact, Pyrrhus won so many victories that his forces became depleted to the point that in his final fight with Rome at Maleventum, two-thirds of his forces were eliminated.  He returned to Tarentum but while in route, the Tarantines surrendered to Rome.  Pyrrhus had won far more victories than Rome, but in the process made far more enemies such that he had to entirely deplete is resources and lost his nation in the process.

What does this have to do with America and my books?

First, it is becoming clear that America is fighting far too much and we simply can no longer afford to fight.  We can win victories, but at what cost?  If we go bankrupt from overspending, we lose anyway.  As for my books, I have wanted all my life to be a writer.  I love playing with words and being a stay-at-home dad.  It is a wonderful thing.  But I cannot help but think about how now that I have two best-sellers (and perhaps more one the way), these will be futile because once the nation is dissolved through bankruptcy, who is going to have the money to buy books?  Mine, like America’s and King Pyrrhus, seems destined to be a Pyrrhic victory.

On the plus side, I did not write the books for making money really.  I only published the first in the hopes that people may benefit from the information when eventually the nation collapsed.  I just did not expect that collapse to appear so soon in coming.  I am more  convinced than ever that that event is not far off.  Thus, the time to prepare is short and I am working as fast as I can to complete the remaining books I had planned years ago for the series.  For now, there are two that I hope will be useful to my readers.

QTips, Jolly Ranchers, and Other Sex Tricks Just Released

Don\'t forget to add us. We appreciate it.

I just released my latest book, something I have had on the back burner for years.  The full title is Q-Tips(r), Jolly Ranchers(r), and Other Sex Tricks: Supergasms can be Yours and although it is written primarily for male readers, their female partners should find it both amusing and

Supergasms Sex Tricks by C. Jeff Oakes

My latest book will supercharge your sex life with supergasms

enlightening as well.

The reason the book has been so long in coming (no pun intended), is because I wasn’t really sure about the illustrations.  I was thinking it should be more graphic, but after publishing it to Kindle, I found that images are not that great for that format anyway.  My wife kept encouraging me, insisting that I should at least teach others the Q-Tip Technique, which is a little trick I developed years ago.  So I went ahead without the instructional images (there are a couple, such as how to show other guys where the clitoris is located–I am often shocked at how many fellows I meet who do not know this).   Think too (some of you) guys, if you can get her off with a QTip, you never have to hear her tell you again how size matters.

Of course, I do have plans for paperback and perhaps later an expanded hardbound version (coffee table size, so should you wish to display it for your friends, you can).  For now, however I will be sticking with the Amazon Kindle format.

What You Will Learn In My New Book

The first thing my friends and fans will learn most certainly is how kinky I am.  Yes, beneath this conservative exterior is a beast, which is a better way of saying I am a Dog, like most guys.

But beyond this, the book is about adding fun into the bedroom.  I came up with the Q-Tip Technique years ago quite by accident and since that time have taught it to many friends and acquaintances.  So far, everyone loves it.

So in Chapter Two of the book, I teach this simple, yet superorgasmic (at least for the ladies) trick I call the QTip Technique.  This technique has never failed to give a woman a great orgasm and anyone can learn it.  Why in Chapter Two and not Chapter One?

Because in Chapter One I lay a foundation that I believe is vital to a healthy sex life with your partner.  I teach what the seven orgasms any woman can achieve and how to give them to her.  (Believe me guys, it is a lot of work but well worth the effort–there is something in it for us.)

In addition, I teach how to make loving fun and how you can constantly keep expanding your sexual horizons.  I even teach you how to get the desire back in your relationship if it has somehow been lost.

I hope my friends and fans enjoy this book but more so, I hope it puts the fire back into weak relationship while further stoking the fires of good ones.  Enjoy.

Is the U.S. Government Gunning for Computer Geeks?

January 15, 2013 in Uncategorized

I recently published a book called the Principles of Order: Can We Ban Guns AND Keep Liberty? on Amazon.  In that book I explain why I

principles of order book by c. jeff oakes

This book discusses the heated issue of gun control and whether there can be middle ground between the two sides of the debate.

believe that if there is ever another revolution, it will not be fought with guns but with computers.  The reason is simple:  With the advanced technology our nation now possesses, guns are fairly obsolete.  I recently came across a video on The Young Turks about Aaron Swartz, one of the co-founders of Reddit, recently found dead an apparent suicide.  The reason for his relates to this topic in a very surreal way so I felt I had to share.

The host Cenk Uygur makes a passionate argument in the video that Swartz had become the target of our Government because he is a computer geek who knows how to hack into systems–this seems to be an area of great concern to the government for people like this pose a unique danger?  Why?

This is particularly disturbing.  A free government would not fear such issues and people, but one intent on tyranny certainly would.  If the argument is right, this could only mean that our own government is preparing, as the conspiracy theorists claim, to put a total lock on liberty.

I cannot say if this is the case or not, but the evidence appears to be mounting.

I only mention all of this because if that is the case, we have done it to ourselves.  We have allowed Law to overpower principle in our society.

Unless we find the will to return to being a nation governed by principles, as George Washington recommended though not in those exact words, we will undoubtedly find ourselves ruled more like Soviet Russia than America.

If you would like to read an excerpt from that book, follow this link.  If you would like to order it, go to Amazon here.

Here is the video which is direct and bold.

As always, I welcome and appreciate comments and will respond to all…unless the government takes me into custody for writing my book.
