The Golden Triangle can help You Build a Better Website
The Golden Triangle is a simple tool to teach anyone to build a better website…a web site that gets traffic.
I believe that most services that SEO companies perform are things that anyone can easily learn. You can learn to build a better website yourself.
I developed this simple web site teaching aid for those who would like to learn the basics of Optimizing their web site and building the networks necessary to gain traffic.
The Golden Triangle is really simple. There are three elements as signified from the letters C N C.
= A Better Website
These concepts to help build a better website are really no different from the elements necessary to build a strong traditional bricks-and-mortar business.
- In any business, there are certain vital elements to building a successful enterprise and building a better website is no different. The first thing any business (live or virtual) must do is have credibility and trustworthiness…someone others would want to do business with. This is demonstrated in the live world by having a well-lit sign, clean site appearance, organized layout, easy store navigation, customers able to find a sales person, and how to pay. Other elements may include displays of business associations to which the owner/business belongs along with all the proper licensing requirements.
- The next thing that all businesses must have is a network of contacts. These are phone numbers and addresses of suppliers, customers, and the business. In addition, it would only make sense that many of the employees would exchange numbers and management would surely have exchanged such information with employees. A web site is no different.
- Finally, any business must have something of value that customers want…content of some sort.
The Golden Triangle Translated to Build a Better Website
Now let’s translate that.
Credibility – To build a better website, those entering must be able to easily navigate through the web site. There must be easy ways to find what is wanted, information provided to stimulate them to action, and a way for them to take the action you want. In a traditional business, this equates to aisles and shelves, sales people or materials, and either a checkout or a contract. When you build a better website, those entering will find what they want just as quick.
Networks – An online business takes networking to another level. To build a better website, rather than having phone numbers for suppliers, there are links to other sites that provide additional information. Rather than a switchboard for customers to call, there are links all over the web that can take them directly into your store from any location (so rather than one door, think of it like a corner department store in the mall – there are many entrances). And instead of employees sharing phone numbers, we create links from one page to others. These are all networks and no single network can be ignored if you are to build a better website.
Content – In a department store, content consists of slacks, jewelry, and any number of products; a car dealership has a lot full of autos; and an attorney has the knowledge in his mind. To build a better website, your site must have content. And just as any store location has a constant turnover of content, especially when a “new and improved” item replaces an older, less desired item, your web site must keep fresh content turning over regularly if it is to be successful.
