What is Content Marketing?
But the question that seems to come up most often is, “What is Content Marketing?”
Content Marketing is nothing more than disseminating written material that brings traffic to either your website or traditional business or ideally, both. It can consist of anything from blog posts, informative articles, comments on other blogs, in forums, or social media outlets, to the photos you post and videos. It is nothing more than getting good information out there where prospective visitors to your site can find it and like it enough to keep returning to you/your site.
In a nutshell, this kind of marketing requires writing and getting what is written distributed, using any and every means at your disposal, preferable low to no cost. It requires tracking results then duplicating those actions that get good results and abandoning those that do not. It requires connecting in a positive way with your readers/viewers so that they will keep returning to your site.
Here is a video I created some time ago. It is not a great video, nor is it very professional. What it is is content marketing on the simplest level. Remember, today we have the awesome power of the Internet to get attention for our products and services and this tool is rapidly replacing traditional advertising forms like TV, Radio, and Billboards. As the tool of choice for many in getting the message out, the Internet is unmatched. This video, though not that great, gets plenty of views every month in various locations, but more importantly, it brings traffic to my site AND I actually make some money from it. One of the best developments in this kind of marketing system is video. Video is turning the web upside down and right now, viewers simply cannot get enough video. In fact, this form of media is growing so rapidly that the major search engines are scrambling to find the best ways to index them and make them available to viewers.
Video is perhaps one of the best methods of marketing your web site, because for marketing purposes, this media gets disseminated quickly. In fact, when considering social media outlets like Facebook, LinkedIn, and other such web sites, Video posts are viewed, according to most sources, 60% more than any other form of message. So if you post a video on your Facebook page, you stand a much greater chance of getting traffic to your web site.
